Aromas of black plum and pepper give way to the juicy, bright red fruit on the palate. Very smooth and juicy, with ripe balck fruit and no hard edges - a gentle giant. Grapes were sourced from California's best regions: Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles and Lodi. The fruit was able to accumulate flavours and concentration early in the growing season, and many vineyards experienced the earliest ripening and harvest dates. For this cuvée of Sebastiani Zinfandel the majority of the fruit comes from Sonoma County which is among the finest regions in the United States for Zinfandel. The remainder is from Contra Coast County resulting in a synergy of intense flavors and distinction. The blend is predominantly Zinfandel (91%), with a small portion of Petite Sirah, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon blended in to add more colour along with more white pepper and spicy aromas. The Sebastiani Zinfandel is a wonderful deep red colour in the glass. It displays inviting aromas of raspberry preserves, blackberry, and sweet spice. Dark, brambly berry flavours lead on the palate with hints of white pepper, and spice. True to its variety, this Zinfandel has enough acidity and tannins to frame the delectable fruit. More of a Claret style than a raisiny, overripe wine, the smooth, soft tannins round out the palate for a beautiful, lingering finish.
