The Terra Franca wines are made at the Anadia winery in Bairrada. They are fresh, forward and easy drinking multi-regional blends. Paulo Prior sources the fruit from vineyards across Portugal and oversees the winemaking, which focuses on preserving the varietal flavours and freshness of the grapes. The Vinho Regional Tinto is a multi-regional blend from red grapes sourced from carefully-selected growers. After destalking and gentle crushing, the must was fermented at a controlled temperature of around 20-22ºC, with the aim of maintaining optimum fruit character. Malolactic fermentation was allowed to occur followed by a period of ageing in stainless-steel tanks for about six months. The wine was then blended, fined, cold -stabilised and filtered before bottling. After bottling, the wine was further aged at a controlled temperature of 15ºC for about two months before being released. On the nose, this wine has ripe red fruit aromas of strawberries and red plums. On the palate, the ripe fruit is well balanced by juicy tannins and fresh acidity. A full and flavoursome red, with fresh fruit lingering on the elegant finish.
