WINEMAKING
SEASON: tempered with tricky weather leading into the ripening period, the Grenache and Mataro luckily escaped hail damage and instead enjoyed mild conditions throughout. The cooler conditions allowed for steady ripening and preservation of delicate flavours with lower potential alcohol.
WINEMAKING: The Murtho Grenache was pressed on arrival at the winery for settling and fermentation on light lees. The Grenache and Mataro from Greenock were harvested together and pressed after a little time on skins to enhance colour and flavour development. Time on yeast lees for several weeks post fermentation helped impart an attractive savoury and creamy texture to the palate.
