Grant Burge's Wines of Distinction display the true character of premium wines produced from Barossa old-vine fruit, made with seamless balance and individual character. Distinctively Barossa. Distinctively Premium. Drawn from some of the coolest sites in the Barossa, including the 150-year-old Corryton Park estate, this is a Cabernet of the highest order, a wine of finesse, depth and complexity.

A true expression of its origins, this varietal Cabernet delivers intense aromas of cassis, dark chocolate, tobacco leaf andmint. On the palate, a lovely coating of tannin provides elegance, texture and helps drive the finish.

2018 harvest was well and truly dry but produced quality with the help of water retained in the soils from rainy months leading up to vintage. Crops were well down on the bumper 2017 vintage, but only slightly below the long-term average. Summer and early Autumn were unusually dry, requiring supplemental irrigation to all vineyard sites. The low disease pressures associated with dry, warm conditions coupled with the cool night-time temperatures allowed the vines to produce fruit with exceptional character and flavour while being harvested at lower degrees of sugar ripeness, generally producing vibrant, balanced, lower-alcohol styles.

APPEARANCE: Dark, inky purple

NOSE: Mint chocolate, cassis and leafy. Some cinnamon, clove and gingersnap oak characters.

PALATE: Long line of acidity races through the wine. As much as the wine has varietal characteristics with methoxypyrazinesjumping out of the glass, there is some ripeness. Some fruit weight gives the wine a little plumpness. Gravel liketannins, with a long-lasting finish.

FOOD MATCH: Enjoy with lambchops with mint sauce.
