Product Details
Domenico Clerico is a Piemonte legend. He was at the vanguard of Barolo’s modernists: the producers who, in the 1980s and 1990s, focussed on smaller oak barrels for winemaking, as well as more fruit-forward wines. Sadly Domenico himself passed away in 2017 after a long illness, so it’s now talented winemaker Oscar Arrivabene at the helm, under the watchful eye of Domenico’s widow Giuliana. This Barolo comes from a blend of Clerico’s best vineyards, now farmed organically, and is a suave, cool Nebbiolo, that shows why Barolo is so highly acclaimed. It sees predominantly large oak barrels, with a small proportion in smaller oak barriques, and shows lots of floral lift and pure fruit. Drink it with any of the Piedmontese classics: Agnelotti del Plin, Tajarin, or most of all, white truffles.
