Product Details

This 300 hectare co-operative is situated in Matelica, which is a smaller zone than Castelli di Jesi. The co-operative has 24 organically cultivated vineyards located inland from Castelli di Jesi, where the climate is more continental, where they source grapes for their organic ‘Vigneti B’ Verdicchio. Here, the combination of warm days and cool nights allows the aromatic qualities of the grapes to develop and extends the growing season, so that harvest takes place as late as the second half of October. Grapes for their ‘Terre di Valbona’ are grown in vineyards planted between 350 and 450 metres above sea level. Higher up the quality ladder is the single-vineyard ‘Vigneti del Cerro’. This site, situated 360 metres above sea level, produces a wine with an extra level of richness and depth on the palate. Their Riserva, ‘Cambrugiano’, has lovely depth and texture, and is certainly one of the best Verdicchio wines produced. The Rosso Conero, made solely from Montepulciano, is full and ripe, while the Lacrima di Morro d’Alba has a lovely floral character. Both are as impressive as the white wines from this fine producer. The 2019 vintage saw a mild and dry winter followed by a spring marked by a significantly cold and rainy May. This restored the soil moisture content, which helped the vines stay healthy through the hot summer. Sunny, warm days in September allowed for a smooth harvest period. This wine is pale lemon in colour with a lovely aromatic and clean bouquet of acacia with a touch of honey. Surprisingly full-bodied, it shows great balance between its crisp green apple character and the richer honey and lemon flavours. The finish is dry and vibrant.
