Product Details
All the vineyards under the Schloss Reichartshausen designation of origin are the sole property of Balthasar Ress, thus creating the monopoly vineyard of the estate. Schloss Reichartshausen, which has belonged to Kloster Eberbach since the beginning of the 12th century, was an important outer courtyard of Kloster Eberbach until the beginning of the 19th century. Following the great tradition of Kloster Eberbach, Balthasar Ress cultivates exclusively Riesling vines in the vineyards of Schloss Reichartshausen. Due to the very sandy and loose soils, these vines produce very racy and acid-accentuated.
The Schloss Reichartshausen Spätlese shows itself in the glass with a light, very pale lemon yellow color. In the beginning the wine is very closed in the smell. Gradually, soft honey notes and light fruity tones of ripe pear unfold. Also in the taste the very young age of the wine is noticeable due to its straightness. Nevertheless, notes of quince, elderberry and apricot can be tasted. A wine with a long finish and much potential for the next years.
