Product Details

Petaluma is committed to producing the very best wines from South Australia’s most distinguished viticultural areas. Coonawarra in the South East of South Australia is the premier region for Cabernet Sauvignon. Cooled by the cold waters of the nearby Southern Ocean, the famed terra rossa soils of the area help provide wonderful growing conditions. The White Label Range is crafted in the same Petaluma philosophy as the highly regarded Yellow Label. The grapes are grown in the key regions of Adelaide Hills and Coonawarra. These wines are perfect to enjoy upon their release and complement occasions with friends, family and food.

The 2016 Petaluma White Label Cabernet Sauvignon is a medium bodied, elegant dry red wine, showing the bright juicy fruit for which the region is renowned. The palate has abundant soft sandy velvety tannin, plush plum and cherry, and a lovely hint of mocha and chocolate framing the Coonawarra minty leaf. An elegant mouth filling classic Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon from the terra rossa soils, the 2016 is instantly appealing and will reward many years of careful cellaring.

The Coonawarra region had a really dry cold winter leading into the 2016 vintage, and spring and summer were terribly dry. The region then had a very severe widespread frost on the 3rd of December, incredibly late and a direct result of minimal soil moisture. December in South Australia also set a record as the hottest on record.
