Chateau Mercian Merlot Mariko is a Japanese red wine from the Yamanashi region, specifically produced by Château Mercian's Mariko vineyard. This wine is known for its rich, dark ruby color with intense flavors of blackberry, blackcurrant, and strawberry, complemented by vanilla notes from barrel aging.

Tannins: Powerful and dense, lingering on the palate with a long finish
Aging Process: 75% in stainless steel and up to 25% in French oak barrels (2nd or 3rd use) for 6 months

Château Mercian is Japan's oldest established winery, founded in 1870. The Mariko vineyard where this Merlot is produced is in Nagano Prefecture and named after the historical territory of Prince Mariko, son of Emperor Kinmei in the 6th century.
